Car set on fire on Cleggswood Avenue in Littleborough
Police are appealing for information about the suspected arson attack, after one person has been arrested.
At approximately 1.15am yesterday morning (Saturday 6th September), officers from Greater Manchester Police responded to an incident on Cleggswood Avenue in Littleborough, Rochdale. It was found that a car had been set on fire, with no injuries reported.
Police have since arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of stalking and conspiracy to commit arson. The man was later bailed while police continue their criminal investigation.
Greater Manchester Police have posted a public appeal, urging members of the public to come forward with any information or footage they may have of the suspected arson attack. Anyone who wishes to come forward should call 101 and quote the log number 205 of 6th September 2025.
Any person who is charged with and convicted of arson faces up to four years in prison.
Littleborough is a very remote and generally peaceful town, in the far north-east corner of Rochdale at the boundary of where Greater Manchester becomes West Yorkshire and Lancashire. It is famed for it's views of the Pennines, and Hollingworth Lake which is literally a 1-minute walk away from Cleggswood Avenue.
