Carl Hayward charged with possession of a bladed article

The 38-year-old is a resident of Darras Road in Manchester.

Earlier today (Wednesday 27th August) officers from the Tameside Neighbourhood Policing Team have charged Carl Hayward (born 13th June 1987) with possession of a bladed article in a public place. Mr Hayward is due to appear at Bolton Magistrates' Court tomorrow (Thursday 28th August).

Possession of a bladed article is an offence under Section 139 of the Criminal Justice Act (1988) - it applies to anyone found carrying knives or similar weapons in public without lawful authority or reasonable excuse. Any person found guilty of this offence faces up to four years' imprisonment.
