emergency Kailem Reece Gibson, 28, dies following stabbing

Mr Gibson was rushed to hospital following the stabbing on Gilmerton Drive in Newton Heath.

As previously reported, emergency services were called to the scene of a stabbing at approximately 7.25pm last night (Friday 29th August). A large response was seen from the police and paramedics, including a police helicopter which circled overhead for over an hour.

The victim, Kailem Reece Gibson, was rushed to a nearby hospital. A short time later they died from their wounds. Greater Manchester Police have since confirmed that two men have been arrested in relation to the incident.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, and furthermore a 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. As of earlier this afternoon, both men remained in police custody for questioning.

Mr Gibson's family announced "it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kailem Reece Gibson, who left us on 29 August 2025, at the young age of 28". They went on to describe Mr Gibson as a "deeply loved son, brother, father, boyfriend, nephew, cousin, and friend".
