Moorgate Halt level crossing in Uppermill to close for six months
New signalling is being installed in the area as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade.
The level crossing, situated near Greenfield Train Station in the Saddleworth area of Oldham, will close from tomorrow (Saturday 30th August). It won't be possible for pedestrians to use the crossing until next year.
The signalling upgrades coincide with Huddersfield Train Station closing for 30 days from tomorrow, for "remodelling work".
While the signals are being upgraded, trains will need to get permission to pass the level crossing. Due to this, it "cannot be used safely", according to Kristian Willis, a Senior Programme Manager for Network Rail.
