announcement Retreat Restaurant on Chorley New Road to permanently close

The Retreat chain will be down to two restaurants after this one in Bolton closes.

The chain was founded in 2009 and currently operates across three sites. In addition to Chorley New Road, there's one on Darwen Road in Bolton, and one just outside of Greater Manchester in Adlington, Lancashire.

Via a Facebook post on Monday 1st September, the company announced that "after 16 years ... the end has arrived for our Chorley New Road site!".

The announcement explained that after Saturday 6th September, the venue will be permanently closed. However, the other two Retreat venues will continue to operate as normal.

Any visitors to the restaurant before the closure this weekend will get 25% off all food bills - though this doesn't include the "lunch offer".

Of the many replies to the Facebook post, one quipped "I'm not surprised with bar prices". The company responded directly to this, stating that "£5.80 - £6.20 for a pint" is "getting to be the norm based on the [government's National Insurance and minimum wage] costs, not to mention Chorley New Road overheads!!".

The establishment describes itself on Google as offering "grill dishes and pizza served amid candle-lit dark-wood decor with leather booths or heated patio". Reviews of the venue are mostly positive, with a 4.4 star rating on Google and an 84% recommendation rate on Facebook.
