Woman arrested for trying to open emergency exit mid-flight
The Ryanair plane, heading to Agadir in Morocco, returned to Manchester Airport.
Passengers allege that the woman was attempting to open the emergency exit while the plane was in the air. Due to the intervention of the fellow passengers she was unsuccessful and the captain was made aware at approximately 09:30 this morning (Monday 25th August).
Flight tracking websites show that RUK1266 was on the way to Agadir and just north of Cardiff before it abruptly turned around and landed back at Manchester Airport. Upon landing safely, Greater Manchester Police boarded the plane, escorted the woman off, and performed an arrest.
Engineering staff were required on the ground to inspect the damage and replace plastic covers. The passenger jet did ultimately make the journey to Agadir later in the day.
